Canada Express Entry

The Express Entry system serves as the initial phase for individuals seeking immigration to Canada through various programs. Once the system becomes operational, prospective candidates will have the opportunity to create their Express Entry profiles at their convenience. It’s worth noting that there will be no time constraints for completing a profile, and there will be no limit on the number of candidates accepted into the pool.

Within the Express Entry pool, any candidate who is accepted has the chance to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence. Regular draws are anticipated to be conducted throughout the year to invite candidates to submit their applications. It is important to mention that only the highest-ranked candidates will be selected, even from within the pool of accepted candidates. Upon receiving an invitation to apply, individuals will have a period of 60 days to submit a comprehensive application for permanent residence.

The eligibility for the Federal Skilled Worker category, which contributes to the Canadian economy, is now determined through the Express Entry System. To qualify under this specific category, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Possess at least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time work experience within the past ten years in an occupation classified as skill level 0, A, or B according to the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
Have a permanent and full-time job offer from a Canadian employer with a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
Demonstrate the ability to meet the minimum language proficiency requirements in either English or French.
Score a minimum of 67 points based on the selection factors in the Tier 1 assessment.

The assessment for Federal Skilled Trade applicants focuses on their ability to sustain themselves financially in Canada. Starting from January 1, 2015, candidates eligible for this program must express their interest through the express entry system, which serves the purpose of immigration to Canada. This category is designed for individuals with specific job offers in a particular occupation, aiming to obtain permanent residency in Canada. However, meeting certain eligibility criteria is necessary to qualify for Canadian immigration. These criteria include:

Having a valid job offer from a Canadian employer for a minimum duration of one year.
Demonstrating language proficiency, which is assessed by a certified language testing organization, with a minimum level of 5 in speaking and listening according to the Canadian Level Benchmark (CLB), and a minimum level of 4 in reading and writing.
Possessing a minimum of two years of qualified work experience in the skilled trade within the last five years, along with the ability to demonstrate the skills and experience required to carry out the duties of the occupation. This applies to occupations classified as National Occupational Classification (NOC) level B, with a total of 90 eligible occupations falling under the following general categories:
a) Industrial, electrical, and construction trades (Major Group 72)
b) Maintenance and equipment operation trades (Major Group 73)
c) Supervisor and technical occupations in natural resources, agriculture, and related production (Major Group 82)
d) Processing, manufacturing, and utilities supervisors and central control operators (Major Group 92)
e) Cooks and chefs (Major Group 632)
f) Butchers and bakers (Major Group 633)

This designated category is chosen based on individuals who possess financial stability, Canadian work experience, and the ability to reside in Canada. It also encompasses international students graduating from Canadian post-secondary institutions with professional, managerial, or skilled work experience, making them eligible to apply for permanent residency. This category specifically allows temporary foreign workers to apply for permanent residency. To be eligible for permanent residency, a temporary foreign national must meet specific criteria, which include:

Having 12 months of full-time work experience or the equivalent part-time experience.
Working in one or more occupations classified as skill type 0, A, or B according to the National Occupational Classification (NOC) matrix.
Obtaining work experience within the last 36 months.
Meeting the performance requirements outlined in the leading statement.
Demonstrating an adequate number of main duties as defined in the NOC matrix and providing details of all duties performed.
